Who did not love a Swanson Salisbury Steak Frozen Dinner back in the day? I remember like it was yesterday the convenience foods in the frozen section.

I was skeptical about this recipe but was up for a little dinner challenge tonight. Wow was I surprised when at first bite of the salisbury steak, I was transported back to a much simpler time and place. This is the perfect old-fashioned Swanson’s Salisbury Steak TV Dinner “dupe” from the mid 1960’s.

Old Fashioned Salisbury Steak Recipe
ingredients:
For the Patties
1 pound lean ground beef
1/3 cup bread crumbs
2 teaspoons ketchup
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
For the Gravy
2 packets Brown Gravy Mix
2 cups hot water
1 teaspoon ketchup
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
How to Make Easy Salisbury Steak Recipe
Step 1: Prepare the Patties
Add all patty ingredients to a large bowl.
Use clean hands to combine until mixed well.
Divide the mixture into four balls and flatten each into patties.
Step 2: Cook the Patties
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Cook patties until they are no longer pink in the middle (about 5-7 minutes).
Reduce heat to low once cooked through.
Step 3: Make the Gravy
In a separate bowl, combine Brown Gravy Mix with hot water, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce using a whisk until smooth.
Pour the gravy mixture over the cooked patties in the skillet.
Allow it to come to a simmer; if too thick, add an additional ¼ cup of water while stirring.
Step 4: Serve Warm
Serve your easy Salisbury steak warm over mashed potatoes if desired. Enjoy this comforting dish with family!
